IN-SIGHT’s On the Move summer camp was held July 14 – 24 and featured lots of challenging
adventures, including a trip to Washington, DC, plus golfing, bowling, yoga, and a fun day at the
Science Museum in Hartford, CT.
The focus of this year’s camp was on orientation and mobility, placing campers in situations where they had to apply the skills they had previously learned to navigate unfamiliar environments and situations.
During the two-week-long program, the campers got a lot of practice safely crossing intersections,
navigating new places, and most importantly, identifying and overcoming obstacles such as stairs and curb stones.
The camp, which was provided at no cost to the campers’ families, was funded by grants from the Rhode Island Foundation, the Rhode Island Energy/PPL Foundation, the Bernhardt Foundation, the Rhode Island Shriners, and numerous individual donors.
