The Rhode Island shoreline set the stage for an unforgettable experience as IN-SIGHT clients joined anglers from across the state for the Rhode Island Lions Sight Foundation’s annual VIP (Visually Impaired Persons) Fishing Tournament. What unfolded was a day defined by teamwork, independence, and the simple joy of being out on the water.
The VIP Tournament is designed to make fishing fully accessible for people who are blind or visually impaired. Volunteers from Lions Clubs across Rhode Island paired up with participants, offering guidance, baiting hooks, and cheering on every cast. For many IN-SIGHT clients, the event is a highlight of the summer—an opportunity to reconnect with nature, build confidence, and enjoy a friendly competition.
By the time the boat returned to shore, the sense of accomplishment was palpable. Some clients landed multiple fish; others simply enjoyed the thrill of casting a line into open water.
