Assistive Technology Coordinator

The Assistive Technology Coordinator evaluates the technological needs of visually impaired and blind adults, recommends appropriate solutions, provides foundational training, and coordinates referrals for advanced instruction. This role supports clients across various settings, including agency facilities, homes, workplaces, and the broader community.

This is a part-time position (15 hours per week). In-person office hours for this position are three days per week from 9 AM – 2:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess client abilities, goals, and current technology usage to develop individualized plans.
  • Deliver instruction on assistive technology such as smartphones, tablets, smart speakers, computers, video magnifiers, and smart glasses.
  • Refer clients for specialized training as needed.
  • Facilitate group workshops and lead the monthly virtual Assistive Technology Discovery Group for peer support and technology discussion.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of client interactions, goals, and progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Personal experience with vision-related assistive technology strongly preferred.
  • Background in vision rehabilitation, technology training, or teaching is advantageous.

Additional Requirements

  • Reliable transportation for off-site client activities.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; Spanish fluency is a plus.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require sitting, standing, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
