Join us for our first Blind Bird-A-Thon!
A Bird-a-Thon is a birding event during which birders try to see or hear as many bird species as possible during a set period of time, in this case, 24 hours within two days in May (May 3-4, 2026). Our event is being hosted as part of the 2nd Annual Global Blind Birder Bird-a-Thon, which aims to encourage blind and partially sighted birders of any age,
experience, or location to head outdoors, tune in, and celebrate the sounds and songs that make birding such a powerful practice of connection.
We will meet at the beautiful Audubon Nature Center in Bristol, RI, at 9:30 AM. The Nature Center is accessible via the RIde paratransit program.
After a quick orientation, we will head outdoors, to identify bird song using your ear or apps like Merlin ID, which identify birds by sound. No prior birding experience is required, and Audubon staff will guide our group and offer assistance.
