Join us for this two-part Zoom workshop where we discuss ways to reduce your risk of being a victim of crime, avoid dangerous situations, or, if necessary, fight back. Practical self-defense techniques will be explained by orientation and mobility specialist Dr. Laura Bozeman, who has a black belt in karate.
“The best way to ensure personal safety is to avoid putting yourself in a bad situation . . . and body language can be a protective factor as well. If you walk confidently with your head up and maintain a pace that looks like you are in charge, people will leave you alone. You might succeed in giving someone the impression that you could hit them with the cane.”
The workshops will be on Fridays, May 14 and 21 from 11AM – 12PM via Zoom. Participants can join the workshops via video or by telephone. Recordings of the workshops will be made available after each session.
