The On the Move summer program is returning for 2021!
This year’s camp will feature primarily outdoor activities and will once again be staffed by orientation and mobility teachers from the Rhode Island Vision Education and Services Program (RIVESP). The camp will run Monday through Friday from 8 AM – 4 PM. There is no cost for campers to attend this program.
The camp is designed for kids who are blind or visually impaired, aged 8 – 17 years old, and who are receiving mobility instruction from RIVESP teachers.
In order to assist with managing COVID-related precautions, this year’s camp will be broken into two distinct groups. Each group will attend camp for one week and each week will have a limited number of campers (likely 6 – 8). As part of the camp application, families will be asked to choose their first and second choices out of three potential weeks. Campers will be assigned to a specific week and families will be notified of their child’s camp group by early June.
In order to ensure everyone’s safety, all campers will be asked to have a PCR COVID test prior to attending camp and have a negative result. Campers who have any COVID-related symptoms will not be able to attend camp. The camp will adhere to any and all COVID precautions that are in place at the federal, state, and local levels.
For more information about this year’s camp, please reach out to your child’s mobility instructor or contact Chris Butler at IN-SIGHT.
Please register by Friday, May 28, 2021.
