On the Move 2021

Our camp video for this year:

Friday, July 23

Another On the Move comes to a close. Today the week two group celebrated with a pool party. We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!

Thursday, July 22

Today the campers took on Boston. They learned about the MBTA system, riding the train roundtrip from Warwick. After a short walk along the water, they climbed aboard a famous Boston Duck Boat for a unique land and sea tour of the city. We wrapped things up with lunch and a quick tour of South Station.

Wednesday, July 21

Today group two took a roundtrip ferry ride from Providence to Newport, enjoyed lunch at the Brick Alley Pub, and navigated the tourist-filled streets of downtown Newport.

Tuesday, July 20

Today group two hit the rail trail with Rail Explorers in Portsmouth followed by lunch at the 99 Restaurant in Newport!

Monday, July 19

On the Move week two kicked off today! The gray skies and cooler temperatures ended up being perfect weather for kayaking with our friends from EMS Kayak School on Lake Pearl in Wrentham, MA. After a two-mile paddle around the lake, it was time for some lunch at a nearby Uno restaurant!

Friday, July 16

On the Move week number one ended with a pool party, Braille Uno, and cake to celebrate a camper’s birthday. Next week we do it all over again with another group of campers!

Thursday, July 15

Today the campers took on Boston. They learned about the MBTA system, riding the train roundtrip from Warwick. After a short walk along the water, they climbed aboard a famous Boston Duck Boat for a unique land and sea tour of the city. We wrapped things up with lunch and a quick tour of South Station.

Wednesday, July 14

On Wednesday, July 14, the campers took the Seastreak Ferry from Providence to Newport and back. This is a super convenient and inexpensive way to get between the two cities. While in Newport we enjoyed lunch at the Brick Alley Pub, took a walk to Bannister’s Wharf, and got a lot of great mobility practice with uneven surfaces and complex intersection crossings.

Tuesday, July 13

While the skies were overcast on Tuesday, July 13, it ended up being perfect weather for pedaling down the train tracks in Portsmouth with Rail Explorers USA. After lunch at 99 Restaurants, the campers got to spend a couple of minutes at Bretton Point in Newport.

Monday, July 12

The rainy weather on Monday, July 12 did not allow us to go ahead with our scheduled kayaking activity, so instead the campers made a trip to Patriot Place in Foxboro, MA. There they had the opportunity to visit the New England Patriots Hall of Fame, enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant, and practice their mobility skills while taking a walk through the shops near Gillette Stadium.
