Thank you to everyone for your support of our Wine Tasting and Auction on Thursday, September 21 at the Squantum Association in East Providence, RI.
Close to 140 people enjoyed eight different delicous wines courtsesy of Bottles Fine Wines. To add some fun to the tasting the identities of two of the wines were kept a mystery and folks were invited to fill out a survey to see if they could "Guess the Grape." All of the winning entries were entered into a raffle. Congratulations to Colleen Jacobs who was the winner of two tickets to see The Bodyguard at PPAC this January!
Besides the opportunity to taste different wines there was also a silent auction with close to seventy items, including a baseball signed by Boston Red Sox catcher Sandy Leon and a seven night stay at a Hilton Head resort.
In total the event raised almost $20,000 to support Rhode Islanders who are blind and visually impaired.
Wine Tasting Committee Chairman Glen Valeff, an employee at Textron, described to the crowd how he and his brother benefited from participating in INSIGHT's youth programs forty years ago and his hope that the money raised at this event would help to continue and grow that important work. "My brother and I learned how to be independent and confident despite our limited vision and that has carried us through our respective careers," he said.
